Yoga @ The Emmie on the grounds of the Sophienburg Museum in historic downtown New Braunfels is a community yoga vinyasa class held every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Cost for class is $10 cash or check with proceeds benefiting The Sophienburg Museum & Archives. For those living in the downtown neighborhoods, it’s easy to walk or ride bikes. Parking is available on the museum grounds.
Class is one hour and fifteen minutes, and is designed for adults, attracting men and women. Children ages 12 and older are welcome to attend with their parent or guardian.
Wear workout/exercise clothing, bring a yoga mat (and other props that make you comfortable) and a smile. It’s fun, challenging and connects you to group of like-minded people interested in community, giving back and elevating the mind, body and spirit.
About the instructor:
Melissa Welch-Lamoreaux has been a practicing yogini since 2007; for her it’s a way of life. What she learns on the mat, she integrates into her daily life.
She holds a 200-hour certification from Dharma Yoga in Austin, and has trained in the Yoginos Yoga for Youth Program. She also trained in aerial yoga at Aerial Yoga Boerne.
Since 2009, she has had the honor of teaching a fantastic group of kids through Two Rivers Yoga Kids Program. Creative, energetic and intuitive in her approach to working with children and the practice of yoga, she believes in providing creative outlets for children to learn more about themselves, their strengths, their challenges, their peers and surroundings.
Melissa is an advocate of historical preservation, a member of The Sophienburg Museum and Archives and proudly calls downtown New Braunfels home.
