Weihnachtsmarkt (Vy-noks-markt) is a vital fundraiser for the Sophienburg Museum & Archives, furthering our mission of Creating Connections and Enriching Lives through the Power of History. All proceeds go to support museum operations and educational programming.
Enjoy an exclusive Christmas shopping experience at Weihnachtsmarkt, a German-style Christmas Market with a Texas Twist. The market will offer authentic German collectibles and ornaments, unique decorations, specialty items, fabulous gifts, apparel and antiques. Select from a wide array of retail merchants and artisans.

Welcome to Weihnachtsmarkt 2025! Please help The Sophienburg Museum and Archives celebrate the 37th year of Weihnachtsmarkt. Our first Market was held in 1988 in the New Braunfels Civic Center. The cherished event is still going strong! Our market has grown and expanded through the years but has maintained the special Christmas traditions handed down from our German ancestors, while staying true to the market mission of benefitting the Sophienburg Museum & Archives. We have many events to choose from during this 3-day event. Tickets are available on the website. Whether its Breakfast with Santa, a competitive game of Mahjong, or shopping for the perfect Christmas gift there is something for everyone!
The Gala
Thursday, Nov. 20th

Join us for an enchanting evening at the Gala at Weihnachtsmarkt on November 20, 2025, from 6 to 9 PM. Step into a world aglow with twinkling lights, festive music, and the heartwarming spirit of the holiday season. Savor delectable seasonal treats, mingle with friends old and new, and enjoy joyful entertainment surrounded by the cozy charm of a traditional Christmas market. Whether you come to celebrate with family or to simply soak in the magic, this unforgettable gathering invites you to create cherished memories and start your holiday season with laughter, warmth, and wonder. Festive attire is encouraged.

The $25 ticket purchase includes one event ticket for Kaffeeklatsch and one market ticket. Tickets must be downloaded or printed prior to your arrival. Please remember that each barcode can only be used once and will be scanned upon your arrival.

Enjoy a morning full of fun and magic and festivities with Santa himself! The Weihnachtsmarkt team has prepared for Santa’s arrival with a classic Christmas experience, featuring a delicious breakfast for the children, arts & crafts, and photos with Santa. Don’t miss this cherished holiday tradition!
Event purchase includes one child ticket (seated) and one adult ticket (standing), any additional adults attending will need a market ticket ($15.00 admission).

Mahjong
Saturday, Nov. 22nd
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Join us on Saturday, November 22nd from 1pm – 3pm for a fun, festive & exclusive Mahjong Open Play event. This event will be hosted by Serving Up Mahjong and 4 Blondes Mahjong of New Braunfels. This is a fabulous way to celebrate the season with friends in a fun and friendly competition, where strategy, skill and camaraderie come together!
Play for your chance to win fabulous prizes! Each win allows you to put your name in the basket for raffle prizes. Enjoy drinks, light bites and friendly play during the afternoon.
This is an open play event, and you must already know how to play American Mahjong to participate. This open play event will be played with the NMJL 2025 card; please bring your own as there will only be limited extras.

Holiday Tea
Sunday November 23rd
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Join us as we celebrate the season at Holiday Tea, Sunday November 23rd from 1 to 3pm. You will be seated in our beautifully decorated “tearoom” at Weihnachtsmarkt, which will include elegantly set tables with proper tea settings. Enjoy a full English afternoon tea service, provided by Austin English Tea Company. The holiday tea includes delicious tea sandwiches, traditional scones with jam, and tasty desserts. Alongside this decadent tea service, pots of excellent quality loose-leaf tea will be served. Your ticket includes a market day pass, so plan to stroll the market finish up your market shopping before or after high tea!
We look forward to you joining us at Weihnachtsmarkt and supporting the Sophienburg Museum’s continued work to preserve the history of past generations to share with our future generations.

Our first Market was held in 1988. We only utilized the ballroom half of the Civic Center, but it was a rousing success. The market has grown and expanded through the years, but has maintained the special traditions of Christmas handed down from our German ancestors, while staying true to the market mission of benefitting the Sophienburg Museum & Archives.

2025 WEIHNACHTSMARKT MERCHANT APPLICATION
Weihnachtsmarkt is a juried retail gift market and a fundraising event for the Sophienburg Museum and Archives in New Braunfels, Texas. Our market is November 21, 22, and 23, 2025. Our Gala Preview Party opens the market on Thursday night, November 20th.
Merchants must provide pictures of their merchandise and booth arrangement with their application regardless of participation in previous Weihnachtsmarkt events. Only merchandise described or pictured in this application will be reviewed and allowed to be displayed in your booth.
Currently, only 10’x10’ booths are available with a rental fee of $600.00.
A convention decorating service is employed to pipe and drape each booth. Weihnachtsmarkt can supply tables and chairs upon request. One 110-volt electrical outlet is provided per 10×10 booth. A wireless internet connection is available.
Weihnachtsmarkt is held at the New Braunfels Civic and Convention Center in downtown New Braunfels. Restaurants and lodging are available nearby.
